3 Ways to Prevent Teen Hair Loss
By holdenh13
Teen hair loss is a real occurrence that deflates the self-esteem of many teens who care about their good looks. Let's face it, no one teen wants to be balding at such a young age; it is embarrassing. The good news is that if you are young and want to try and help prevent yourself from balding, then there are a few measures you can take. Actually, anyone who follows these rules will be doing themselves a big favor. Here are some ways you can slow down or prevent teen hair loss:
First and foremost, eat with a healthy, nutritious, and balanced diet. Hair thinning can occur when the body is not receiving the fuel it needs. Think of hair follicles as plants. Food acts as fertilizer to these plants, and if the plants don't get the nutrition they need, they will die. To prevent them from dying, try to get the right amount of servings you need each day from each food group and be sure not to skimp out on the foods and vegetables. A balanced diet will help slow down hair loss at any age.
Second, avoid smoking. Smoking is known contribute to hair loss, so it is best to stay away from the habit if you want to have healthy hair. Smoking will only make your hair loss worse. I've seen many smokers who have no signs of hair loss at all, but this is more of the exception rather than the norm. Do your best to stop or stay away from smoking and your rate of balding will not increase.
And finally, avoid dyeing and redyeing your hair. Dyeing your hair over and over again without letting it rid itself of the dye will also cause balding or thinning. Doing so will pollute your hair with chemicals that will damage follicles and make your hair fall out. This is a common mistake many teens make when experimenting with hair dyes and bleaching their hair at home with unsafe chemicals. Hair loss is the end result unfortunately, and it is usually permanent. Lady Gaga recently revealed to the public that she is using Rogaine to fight hair loss associated with too much dyeing. It's better to learn from other's mistakes than your own!
These basic principles can have a tremendous effect on your hair and help reduce the amount of thinning that you experience. As I said before, hair loss is not a fun phase to go through, and it will be hard or impossible to be reversed once severe balding has occurred. Of course, products like Rogaine are on the market to help with these very problems but they can only go so far. Teens can prevent hair loss naturally by eating healthy, being healthy, and keeping harmful chemicals away from their hair. If you haven't started living by these rules by now, then today is the day to begin!
